Brakes parts
Pads, shoes, discs and cylinders.
- Brake padsPress against the disc to slow the wheel. Fitted on disc brakes, usually at the front.
- Brake shoesPress outward against the drum to slow the wheel. Fitted on drum brakes, usually at the rear.
- Brake discThe steel disc the pads grip. It must be flat and thick enough to shed heat.
- Brake master cylinderTurns pedal force into hydraulic pressure for all four brakes.
- Wheel cylinderPushes the brake shoes against the drum on drum brakes.
