What it does
The steel disc the pads grip. It must be flat and thick enough to shed heat.
Signs it needs replacing
- Steering wheel shakes when braking
- Deep grooves or a lip on the disc edge
- Disc below minimum thickness
What to tell the shop
- Vehicle make, model and model year
- Engine size, and whether it is manual or automatic
- The number printed on the old part, or a photo of it
- Whether you want genuine, OEM or a local replacement
